{"id":3137,"date":"2018-08-22T16:10:05","date_gmt":"2018-08-22T16:10:05","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/topedgeshears.com\/?p=3137"},"modified":"2018-08-08T23:15:38","modified_gmt":"2018-08-08T23:15:38","slug":"top-edge-shears-dont-be-fooled-by-a-name","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/topedgeshears.com\/website_09692745\/top-edge-shears-dont-be-fooled-by-a-name\/","title":{"rendered":"Top Edge Shears &#8211; Don\u2019t Be Fooled By A Name"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>See the symbols above?\u00a0 In Japanese they mean \u201c#1\u201d.\u00a0 There\u2019s a school of thought in our profession that says that Japanese shears mean quality and are #1.\u00a0 Many times that turns out to be true, especially with the best-known names like Kamisori, Hikari, Hachi, and HattoriHanzo.\u00a0 But unfortunately sometimes it doesn\u2019t.\u00a0 So when you\u2019re investing in a new pair of shears, it\u2019s still important for you to be well informed.\u00a0 And it starts right from the name.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Some shear companies have Japanese sounding names or Japanese katakana symbols (like the one above), as logos <strong><u>but are not Japanese<\/u><\/strong>. They hope that buyers see the name and automatically think \u201cquality\u201d. They hope you assume that a Japanese sounding name or logo means that the shears are made 100% in Japan when that is often not the case.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Some Japanese scissor manufacturers only produce a portion of their products in Japan while others are often produced in Korea, China or the Philippines.
